I hate being deceived.
I've spent the last couple of weeks teaching computer/internet/email basics to a lovely older woman. She had a wonderful smile, and an infectious laugh. So, obviously, I tried to make her laugh as much as possible. She really is a lovely, sweet woman.
Tonight, I told her that we were pretty much done our one-on-one tutelage (hehe..funny word..) and that she should now continue on her own to come in and practice. No problem. So, she left. She returned shortly after and laid a small pamplet on my desk entitled "4 THINGS GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW". She stares me down and tell me how important the Lord is, especially at this time "you know, with the WAR", and wanted to make sure I read it over. I say something akin to "yeah, yeah, uh huh uh huh" and she leaves.
I open the little 'publication'. And I know you're all on pins and needles to find out the 4 THINGS GOD WANTS YOU DO KNOW:
1) YOU NEED TO BE SAVED
2) YOU CANNOT SAVE YOURSELF
3) JESUS HAS ALREADY PROVIDED FOR YOUR SALVATION
4) JESUS WILL ENABLE YOU TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION
I don't know. I feel like I was ambushed. Actually, I take Number 1 as a personal insult. How does she know I'm not already SAVED?? And the other three negate my own free will. Good grief.
Hey, I just looked at it again, and there's a place to put your signature at the bottom. What does that do? Does THAT save me?? I sign a piece of purple paper and *poof*... eternal bliss? Gee, had a know it was THAT simple. . .
